The large text on view on the wall is a summary of the contents of the Mexican Telenovelas TV guide, that the Michael Roy edited in the way of a selective cadavre exquis, or cut-up, as to form the synopsis - or a first part - of a new novel that the artist is currently writing and that will eventually be published as a limited edition. Dismissing the names of all characters, jumping from one scene, episode, or series to another, reducing the plots to the core of the epic - be it actions or mere threats... - the text reads as a hysterical almost paranoid trans rid of any suspense or drama (as the title firmly announces it...) In this generic and script - telenovelas stripped bare - there's no time or space for identifiaction, emotion or even manipulation.
On the table, loosely displayed xerox copies form the visual counterpart to this work in progress that the artist decided to exhibit here like an unfinished studio piece, revealing only hints or elements of a yet incomplete book projet, and leaving it to the viewer build up his/herown scenario.
